Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays, but not for the obvious reason: that I have the most amazing, loving and handsome husband who I anticipate spending it with. This happens to also be true, but I love Valentine’s Day because the two of us get to spend it with many of the people we love. Every year (four years and counting) we host a party, on Valentine’s Day. And every year the goal is the same. Design the most fun party to be had with friends using the most amount of pink, red and white possible. This year I got particularly lucky because my good friend Madeleine Eiche, who is a genius in all things color, an impressive cook and amazing designer happened to be traveling through Philly to visit her family and stayed with us for a few. So we snapped up the opportunity to host Valentine’s #4 together. Maddy designed the invite, and we collaborated on design for the hand-printed cotton napkins and paper decorations.
The menu was: Truffle and Cayenne Popcorn, Lemon cured Salmon with Créme Fraiche, Quick Pickle Red Onion and French Bread Toasts, Red and White Crudite with Spicy Aioli Dip Sauce, Chili Lime Pistachios, and for dessert: Almond Cupcakes with Ombré Frosting, colored with Pomegranate Juice, Balsamic and Chocolate dipped Strawberries.
